A Buyer’s Guide to Purchasing Designer Watches From the Internet This Christmas

Erin Ryan asked:

Christmas is fast approaching; and this once more means that millions of people are beginning the search for the right Christmas present. This for many means an endless trailing from shop to shop searching for the right present for the special people in your life.

However the internet provides an opportunity to do your vital Christmas shopping whilst still at work or in the comfort of your own home. Millions of products are now available at the touch of a button through the internet, and thus giving you more free time to spend doing things that you love.

This Christmas there are many designer watches that would make the perfect present with all the major watch brands now available on the internet from the likes of D&G, Diesel, and Guess to Chanel, Gucci, Breitling and Chopard. But with so many different websites all offering better than high street prices what should you look out for if you want to buy a designer watch online this Christmas?

The internet is a very competitive market place and price is one of the major reasons many people use the internet to purchase their designer watches, however be warned using the price as your only guide when looking for the right designer watch for you can end in disaster. Here is a check list of things to look for when you are shopping around on the internet for your designer watch this Christmas.

1. Is the site you are looking at an authorised retailer of the watch brands that it holds on its site? This is the most important factor you should look at when making your purchase. An authorised stockist means that the company has been vetted by the watch manufacturer and they purchase the watches direct from the manufacturer. Authorised stockists advertise on their sites to prove their status and must give a stamped manufacturers guarantee with every purchase made. The manufacturers guarantee authenticates your purchase and gives you full manufacturers protection against faults with your watch within the allotted guarantee period. Without this guarantee the manufacturers will not repair or replace faulty goods.

2. Does the site have a secure payment service? With identity fraud at its highest rate in history you should ensure that the company you choose to purchase your designer watch from has a secure payment service the likes of PayPal, Protx etc… you can see if the payment process is secure by looking for a padlock when you reach the page to enter you personal bank details. This secure payment service ensures that the details that your place on the companies website will only be shared with the providers bank and the bank alone.

3. Postage and packaging this is vital you must ensure that your item is being sent to you by a courier service or the Royal Mail that insures the item to the value that you have paid for it. Without this insurance if the item is lost in the post you may have a problem proving that you did not receive the item.

4. Can you get your money back should you not like the item when you receive it? Many internet retailers offer refunds however ensure that you read the terms and conditions before you make the purchase as some may offer a time scale for the return that is not possible due to the time period that the watch is being given.

We have complied this advice to guide you through your internet shopping this Christmas so heed the advice and you will be able to shop with piece of mind this Christmas.

How to Care for Women’s Designer Watches

Erin Ryan asked:

The watch world has seen a great many changes in its time from the invention of the mechanical movement in the late 18th century to the early 19th century to the creation of the Quartz movement in the early 1970’s. Now the watch world is once more going through a revolution which is changing the way we look at our watches.

Watches have always been seen as predominantly a piece of time telling equipment which is a necessity for everyday life. Now thought this is all in a state of flux with the big fashion houses like D&G, DKNY, Chanel and Diesel all licensing their company brand to new ranges of watches. The changes are most evident in the women’s designer watch market place. With watches that wow and amaze even the staunchest of traditionalists.

These new designers’ watches broke many of the boundaries of what is acceptable in a watch and what is not. These new womens designer watches use materials never before thought of in the watch industry to create images that were never before possible without the use of Diamonds and the creation of large price tags.

With all these new materials like Swarovski crystal, Chorian and gemstones how do you ensure that your women’s designer watches look as good in 2 years time as they did when you first bought them?

Swarovski crystal has been the buzz word this season with many manufactures making more and more women’s designer watches encrusted in the Austrian crystal like the NY3746 or the Prism by Guess. But caring for crystal is a difficult thing to do when you are not used to wearing crystal jewellery. There are things to avoid when wearing a watch with Swarovski crystal or any crystal to that fact.

1. When using perfume ensure that if the perfume is a spray that the watch is well away from where you are spraying your perfume remember preferably in a box so it is not hit any stray perfume when sprayed.

2. If placing perfume on the wrist where you wear your watch, ensure that you are not wearing the watch and that when you place the watch on your wrist that the perfume is dry.

3. Ensure that the crystals do not get wet as any agents in the water maybe harmful to the crystals in your watch. Although the watch mechanism and case may be water resistant the crystals are not.

4. When you have finished wearing your crystal set watch give the watch a gentle wipe with a dry cloth ensuring there is no detergents or oils on the cloth before doing so.

5. Don not clean with silver or jewel polish as this will damage the crystals.

Swarovski crystal though is not the only new material being used in women’s designer watches we also now have steel being PVD plated to give the steel a coating which turns the metal from a steel colour to a black or bronzed effect depending on what the look is of the watch as can be seen on the G- Mix by Guess.

To care for this style of watch similar rules apply although they are not as strict perfume is a no as it is so corrosive to metals that it will shorten the longevity of you watch water is though permissible as long as the watch case is water resistant to sufficient an amount to mean that the watch case will not absorb the water and damage the watch.

If you have a watch which is gold plated watches these should also be care for in the same way.

All of these methods should help to get the best of your women’s designer watch and we would like to thank Hot Watches for their assistance.
