It is possible to buy clothes from fashion shows- off the runway?

LingLing asked:

I was watching some of the fashion shows from Mercedez Benz Fashion week in LA, and fell in love with some pieces. I loved the dresses of Christian Audigier. I was wondering if it is even possible to buy the dresses from the runway, because usually the things online are very normal. Does it range from designer to designer the cost?

Expensive/designer clothes in the workplace?

elite plump asked:

I watched an episode of Desperate Housewives recently where Lynette’s coworkers were judging her attire because it was out of season, and so she ends up spending money on more expensive suits. So it got me to asking: if you’re working for a large company or a corporation, are you expected to wear expensive/designer clothes? I can understand if you’re working for, say, Gap. Of course they would want you to be wearing their clothes, but I’m referring more to a company/corp that has nothing to do with fashion, such as a law firm, graphic/web design company, or a Wall Street investment bank.

Also, I’m not just talking about those in the higher up positions, but also poeple in positions such as secretaries, etc.

Help QVC watchers, with the name of a jewelry designer who was on QVC last summer?

holland asked:

I watched QVC last summer and foolishly did not get the name of a jeweler who was featured because I thought he’d be on again. This is what I remember, he was a Caucasian gentleman who looked to be in his late 40s early 50’s. He wore a pink shirt and was bald and wore glasses & it was his 1st time ever on QVC. He lived in NY, was married and I believed worked in Soho. The promo for his line was a cartoon of his face with squiggly lines coming out of it. His jewelry had been used on runways and his line at QVC was long necklaces that could be draped different ways and it was playful & chic. Hope this is enough info please help.
I tried the website and customer service, and it didn’t help at all, because he isn’t a regular on QVC.

Want to major in Merchandising and become a Fashion Buyer?

Katie L asked:

I think I’m pretty good at picking out outfits for people and putting new things together and I read a lot of fashion magazines and books. I’ve been watching Project Runway, though, and it seems like sometimes, I totally disagree with all the judges. I know it’s art so people will have different preferences, but as a buyer who will buy for an entire customer base, it worries me when I disagree with established designers and established designers and magazine journalists.

I am trying to learn as much as possible about designers and trends from different decades but it’s so overwhelming. I feel like I don’t know anything! What kind of knowledge base is expected of me when I go to school? Anything in particular? Should I go in having a lot of knowledge about designers or fashion lingo or fashions of different decades and countries??

I’m freaking out

Barbara
